Job Purpose

The Shop Assistant is responsible for maximising sales by delivering outstanding customer service and creating a memorable shopping experience for every customer. The successful candidate will also assist with merchandising, stock control, and maintaining excellent store presentation.

Key Responsibilities

As a Shop Assistant, your duties will include:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Welcome customers and assist with their shopping needs.
  • Recommend products based on customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate and explain product features and benefits.
  • Process sales and encourage additional purchases.
  • Ensure products are correctly priced and displayed.
  • Set up promotional displays according to company standards.
  • Maintain high merchandising and housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in stock counts and stock takes.
  • Report fast-moving and slow-moving products to management.
  • Minimise stock losses and protect company assets.
  • Support daily store operations and achieve sales targets.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • At least 6 months of retail experience.
  • Own or reliable transport to work shifts.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Passion for customer service and retail sales.
