Job Purpose (Waste Collection Drivers)

The Waste Collection Driver is responsible for operating waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently to ensure the timely collection, transportation, and disposal of waste throughout the Royal Bafokeng Nation.

The successful candidates will play an important role in maintaining a clean and sustainable environment while complying with road safety, environmental, and occupational health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

As a Waste Collection Driver, you will:

  • Operate waste collection vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Collect and transport waste according to scheduled routes.
  • Ensure waste is disposed of at approved disposal sites.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after use.
  • Report vehicle faults, accidents, and maintenance requirements.
  • Follow road traffic regulations and company safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and waste management standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and work areas.
  • Work closely with waste collection teams to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Deliver excellent service to the communities served by the Royal Bafokeng Nation.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • A valid EC Driver’s Licence.
  • A valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
  • At least 3 years’ experience operating heavy commercial vehicles.
  • Experience operating refuse collection trucks or skip trucks (advantageous).
  • Knowledge of road safety regulations and waste management procedures.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Letter from Kgosana (required).
