About the Security Officer job
Thorburn Security Solutions is looking for professional and reliable Grade C Security Officers to work across different security environments, including residential estates, corporate and financial services, retail, logistics, education, mining and other sectors.
The successful candidates will report to the Security Manager and must be prepared to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Duties and Responsibilities
Security Officers will be responsible for:
- Protecting employees, visitors, buildings, vehicles, equipment and assets.
- Controlling access points and monitoring visitors.
- Regulating entry and exit from the premises.
- Directing traffic when required.
- Conducting regular patrols of buildings and perimeter areas.
- Monitoring CCTV, alarms and other security systems.
- Responding to emergencies, alarms and security breaches.
- Reporting suspicious activities and security incidents.
- Completing accurate occurrence, incident and observation reports.
- Enforcing site security procedures and company policies.
- Supporting fire prevention, evacuation and emergency procedures.
- Checking that security equipment is operational.
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment.
- Identifying security threats and site vulnerabilities.
- Maintaining a professional relationship with clients, staff, contractors and visitors.
Skills and Competencies

Requirements
To qualify for the Tsebo Security Officer Grade C Jobs, applicants should have:
- Valid PSIRA Certificate – minimum Grade C.
- Matric / Grade 12.
- Previous security experience.
- Knowledge of access control, CCTV and alarm systems.
- Ability to handle conflict professionally.
- Good observation, communication and reporting skills.
- Physically fit and able to perform patrol duties.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- A driver’s licence may be advantageous depending on site requirements.
- Firearm competency for business purposes will be advantageous.
