About the Role

Reporting to the Security Manager, the successful candidates will help maintain a safe and secure environment by controlling access, conducting patrols, responding to incidents, monitoring surveillance systems, and ensuring compliance with company and PSIRA standards.

Key Responsibilities

Security Supervision

  • Supervise and coordinate security personnel.
  • Conduct shift briefings and debriefings.
  • Allocate duties and monitor staff performance.
  • Maintain discipline and operational standards.

Access Control

  • Control access to buildings and premises.
  • Verify identities of visitors and contractors.
  • Maintain visitor registers.
  • Monitor vehicle and pedestrian access.

Patrols and Physical Security

  • Conduct routine patrols and perimeter inspections.
  • Inspect buildings, gates, doors, and windows.
  • Secure premises after business hours.
  • Identify and report security risks.

Incident and Emergency Response

  • Respond to alarms and emergency situations.
  • Activate emergency response procedures.
  • Detain trespassers where legally appropriate.
  • Report incidents according to company procedures.

Surveillance

  • Monitor CCTV and alarm systems.
  • Detect suspicious behaviour.
  • Investigate potential security threats.
  • Report system faults.

Reporting

  • Record inspections and patrols.
  • Document client interactions accurately.

Client Service

  • Deliver professional customer service.
  • Build positive relationships with clients.
  • Address client concerns professionally.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity.

Compliance

  • Enforce PSIRA regulations.
  • Follow company security procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Maintain operational standards.

Equipment Management

  • Inspect radios, CCTV systems, alarms, and access control equipment.
  • Report equipment faults.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance where required.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Valid PSIRA Grade B Certificate.
  • Previous security experience.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Access control systems
    • CCTV monitoring
    • Alarm systems
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm during emergencies.
  • Physical fitness.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Advantageous Requirements
