Duties and Responsibilities

The Roof Cleaner will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning roofs, gutters and downpipes.
  • Removing leaves, branches and other debris from roof surfaces.
  • Cleaning and safely removing wildlife contamination when required.
  • Assisting with routine roof inspections.
  • Identifying and reporting leaks, damage, defects and safety hazards.
  • Supporting roof repairs, waterproofing and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintaining roof access points and work areas in a safe condition.
  • Using ladders, access equipment and PPE correctly.
  • Following working-at-height procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping in assigned areas.

Skills and Competencies

Applicants should have:

  • Knowledge of roof and gutter cleaning techniques.
  • Ability to safely use ladders and height-access equipment.
  • Basic roof inspection and defect identification skills.
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety.
  • Basic maintenance support skills.
  • Ability to use personal protective equipment correctly.
  • Good housekeeping and asset-care practices.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Physically and medically fit to work at heights.
  • Ability to safely use ladders and roof access equipment.

Advantageous

  • Working at Heights certification or training.
  • Previous experience in roofing, maintenance, facilities management or cleaning.
  • Experience in outdoor labour-intensive environments.
  • Experience in hospitality, resort or commercial facilities.
