About the Transnet WIL Programme

Transnet is inviting eligible TVET students to apply for its Work Integrated Non-Technical Learner Programme. The 18-month programme is designed to provide practical workplace experience and help participants apply their academic knowledge in a professional environment.

Learners will receive exposure to workplace projects, administrative activities, mentorship, training and industry-specific tasks, helping them develop skills and improve their employability.

Key Responsibilities

Successful learners may be required to:

  • Assist with departmental projects and work-stream activities.
  • Perform routine operational tasks under supervision.
  • Support administrative duties, documentation and reporting.
  • Attend training sessions, workshops and mentorship programmes.
  • Shadow experienced professionals and gain practical workplace knowledge.
  • Participate in problem-solving activities.
  • Interact with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
  • Provide progress updates on assigned tasks and projects.
  • Respond to queries and provide assistance where required.
  • Conduct market research and collect and analyse data.
  • Prepare reports and presentations using Microsoft Office.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives.
  • Follow Transnet policies, procedures and safety requirements.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards.
  • Protect confidential information.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Matric certificate or equivalent.
  • Completed all theoretical subjects from N4 to N6 in one of the following fields:
    • Office Management
    • Management Assistant
    • Business Administration
  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Must provide the most recent confirmation letter/proof from the educational institution.
  • Must provide certified copies of the Matric certificate, academic record and ID.
  • Applicants must not have a bursary obligation with another company.
  • Preference will be given to People with Disabilities.
