About the Medium Motor Vehicle Driver Role
The Medium Motor Vehicle Driver will be responsible for operating heavy-duty vehicles and ensuring that vehicles are prepared for each trip. The role requires a driver with a strong safety record, knowledge of road regulations and experience operating heavy vehicles.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 10 literacy level.
- Valid Code 10 driver’s licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- At least 3 years’ articulated driving experience.
- Medically fit to perform the duties.
- Clean criminal record.
- Safe driving record.
- Knowledge of defensive driving principles.
- Experience with Eaton Fuller and ZF gearboxes.
- Knowledge of vehicle components and their functions.
- Knowledge of the Road Traffic Act.
- Understanding of appropriate driving actions in different weather, road and traffic conditions.
- Knowledge of emergency and vehicle-defect reporting procedures.
- Ability to conduct vehicle inspections.
- Knowledge of how to operate a fire extinguisher.
- Understanding of vehicle loading techniques.
- Ability to maximise vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Prepare the vehicle for each trip.
- Operate heavy-duty vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before operation.
- Complete required trip and vehicle documentation.
- Perform related administrative and ancillary duties.
- Report defects, emergencies and other vehicle-related issues according to procedure.
- Follow all reasonable instructions from the Supervisor.
- Ensure safe vehicle operation and compliance with road regulations.
- Maintain a safe driving record.
Working Conditions
The successful applicant must be willing to:
- Work shifts.

- Operate heavy-duty vehicles in varying road and weather conditions.
