Cleaner Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic environment throughout the Dis-Chem Head Office.

Duties include:

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout offices and communal areas.
  • Clean and maintain the canteen and restrooms.
  • Ensure cleaning products and supplies are available when required.
  • Remain available during operating hours to attend to cleaning requirements.
  • Vacuum meeting and training rooms daily according to standard procedures.
  • Vacuum other carpeted areas weekly.
  • Dust desks, chairs, telephones, shelves, photocopiers and other office equipment.
  • Dispose of refuse responsibly after checking that no valuable items or products are included.
  • Follow health and safety requirements when performing cleaning duties.
  • Store cleaning equipment safely when not in use.
  • Display wet-floor signs when cleaning floors.
  • Maintain a professional and friendly approach when interacting with staff and visitors.
  • Assist customers and visitors with basic directions when required.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with employees and guests.
  • Report minor problems to the team leader where necessary.
  • Ensure kitchens and bathrooms are adequately stocked and cleaned to Dis-Chem standards.
  • Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment, including doors, locks, taps, lights and switches.
