Casual Cashier Job Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is building a talent pool for Casual Cashiers at its Greenstone stores in Edenvale. Successful candidates will be considered for future cashier opportunities as suitable vacancies become available.

The Casual Cashier will provide excellent customer service at the point of sale, process transactions accurately and follow Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • At least 6 months’ cashier or till-operation experience
  • Computer literate, including MS Office
  • Good numerical skills
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willingness to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Process customer purchases and payments accurately.
  • Operate the cash register and maintain the cash drawer.
  • Process cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons and other approved payments.
  • Process refunds and exchanges when authorised.
  • Provide professional and friendly customer service.
  • Keep up to date with current promotions and sales.
  • Process customer loyalty and rewards cards.
  • Ensure cash is handled and stored securely according to company procedures.
  • Ensure all merchandise and items are correctly scanned and paid for.
  • Report customer complaints, compliments and suspicious behaviour to management.
  • Follow Dis-Chem’s security, customer service and communication procedures.
  • Protect personal till codes and passwords.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling daily takings.
  • Address customer queries regarding store merchandise.
