Cashier Job Overview

Motus Aftermarket Parts is looking for a Cashier to join the Menlyn Midas branch in Pretoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing customer payments, issuing receipts, reconciling cash, maintaining accurate transaction records, and providing professional customer service.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • 2–5 years of cashier experience
  • Experience handling counter cash
  • Basic MS Excel proficiency
  • Honest, trustworthy and reliable
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Clear ITC and criminal record
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to perform general administrative duties

Key Responsibilities

Cash Receipting

  • Receive and process customer payments accurately.
  • Handle cash and other approved payment methods.
  • Verify payments against amounts due.
  • Issue receipts and confirm transactions with customers.
  • Respond to customer payment and product-price enquiries.
  • Ensure all transactions comply with company procedures.

Cash Reconciliation

  • Reconcile cash received against receipts issued.
  • Count and verify cash totals accurately.
  • Record cheque payments and deposit information.
  • Check cash receipt schedules and reports.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies before deposits are processed.
  • Report any irregularities to the relevant supervisor.

Documentation and Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
  • File receipts, deposit slips and supporting documentation.
  • Retrieve records when required to resolve customer or financial queries.
  • Assist with general administrative duties at the branch.
  • Use MS Excel and other relevant systems to maintain accurate information.
