Job Purpose (Shop Assistant / Cashier)

The Shop Assistant / Cashier will provide excellent customer service while efficiently handling point-of-sale (POS) activities, merchandising and general store duties.

The successful candidates will help create a positive shopping experience by processing transactions accurately, promoting Clicks ClubCard, informing customers about promotions and maintaining high store standards.

Key Responsibilities

Cashier and Point-of-Sale Duties

  • Process customer purchases efficiently and accurately.
  • Scan merchandise and collect payments.
  • Handle cash safely and responsibly.
  • Process ClubCard rewards and assist with new ClubCard registrations.
  • Maintain accuracy during all POS transactions.
  • Follow store procedures and instructions.

Customer Service

  • Provide friendly, professional and efficient customer service.
  • Act as a Clicks brand ambassador.
  • Assist customers with product and promotional enquiries.
  • Inform customers about current promotions, products and events.
  • Build positive relationships with customers.
  • Help customers receive value through Clicks promotions and ClubCard benefits.

Merchandising and Store Operations

  • Maintain merchandise according to store standards.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Assist with stock management procedures.
  • Keep displays and sales areas neat and organised.
  • Ensure products and promotional information are correctly presented.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and ranges.

Minimum Requirements

Education

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric

Desirable:

  • Grade 12 Mathematics with at least 50%.
  • Grade 12 English with at least 50%.

Experience

Previous experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG store environment will be advantageous.

Skills and Knowledge
