Job Purpose

The Security Driver is responsible for transporting security personnel safely while providing professional security services in accordance with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act 56 of 2001. The successful candidate will help protect Dis-Chem’s employees, customers, property, and assets by preventing security risks and responding appropriately to incidents.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Transport security officers safely to and from their assigned locations.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after each shift.
  • Ensure company vehicles remain roadworthy and properly maintained.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, or traffic violations immediately.
  • Park company vehicles in secure designated areas.
  • Follow approved transport routes and company procedures.
  • Maintain discipline among passengers while transporting staff.
  • Guard and patrol Dis-Chem stores and premises.
  • Monitor access control for staff, visitors, suppliers, and vehicles.
  • Conduct searches of personnel, vehicles, and merchandise where required.
  • Complete occurrence books, registers, and security reports accurately.
  • Respond to emergencies, criminal incidents, and suspicious activities.
  • Assist during store opening and closing procedures.
  • Monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and other security equipment.
  • Liaise with law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
  • Enforce company security policies and procedures.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining a professional image.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
  • PSIRA Grade C accreditation.
  • Valid PSIRA registration.
  • At least 3 years’ retail security experience (shopping centres or warehouses).
  • Previous shuttle driving experience.
  • Code 10 South African driver’s licence.
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Clear criminal and credit record.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Good English communication skills (read, write and speak).

Advantageous

  • One year of experience in a similar Security Driver role.
  • Ability to communicate in a second South African language.
