South African National Parks (SANParks) is inviting applications for a General Worker (Fixed-Term Contract) position at Agulhas National Park. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with hospitality or tourism experience who are passionate about providing excellent guest services while helping maintain one of South Africa’s beautiful national parks.

The successful candidate will be appointed on a 3-month fixed-term contract and will report directly to the Duty Manager.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric), NCV Level 4 or equivalent qualification
  • 1–2 years’ experience as a General Worker in a tourism or hospitality environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Ability to perform physically demanding duties including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
  • Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and shift schedules

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate for SANParks General Worker will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning guest accommodation and changing bed linen
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing guest facilities
  • Cleaning ablution blocks, picnic areas, viewpoints, and braai sites
  • Collecting, sorting, and delivering laundry and linen
  • Providing friendly and professional customer service
  • Assisting with refuse removal and reporting maintenance issues
  • Performing minor maintenance on buildings, roads, and infrastructure
  • Following all health, safety, hygiene, and PPE procedures
  • Assisting with event preparation such as guided walks and educational activities
  • Conducting daily inspections and maintaining guest amenities
  • Supporting inventory control of cleaning materials and supplies
