South African National Parks is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for a General Worker (Fixed-Term Contract) position at Agulhas National Park.

This three-month contract opportunity is ideal for individuals with experience in tourism, hospitality, cleaning, and guest services. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining accommodation facilities, visitor areas, and tourism operations while ensuring an excellent experience for guests.

  • Reporting To: Duty Manager
  • Closing Date: 06 August 2026

Minimum Requirements

Applicants applying for SANParks General Worker must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric), NCV Level 4, or an equivalent qualification.
  • 1–2 years’ experience as a General Worker in a tourism or hospitality environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning tools and equipment.
  • Basic customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
  • Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and shift schedules.

Added Advantages

The following will be beneficial:

  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Chainsaw and brush cutter competency.
  • First Aid knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

Cleaning and Housekeeping

  • Clean guest accommodation facilities.
  • Change bed linen and manage laundry services.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, polish furniture, and remove waste.
  • Maintain ablution blocks, picnic sites, braai areas, and visitor facilities.

Guest Services

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist guests professionally and manage expectations.
  • Support events, guided walks, and educational activities.

Maintenance and Safety

  • Perform minor maintenance tasks.
  • Report infrastructure defects.
  • Assist with refuse removal.
  • Follow health and safety procedures, including PPE and chemical handling.

Facility Management

  • Maintain viewpoints, picnic sites, and visitor areas.
  • Conduct daily inspections.
  • Assist with stock and inventory control.

Important Information

  • Successful candidates must provide their own accommodation, as official accommodation is not available within the park.
  • Preference will be given to South African citizens and candidates from designated groups in line with SANParks employment equity objectives.
  • SANParks reserves the right not to make an appointment.
