Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • An NQF Level 6 undergraduate qualification, recognised by SAQA, in one of the following:
    • Law
    • Public Management
    • Public Administration
    • Policing
    • Criminology
    • Forensics
    • Criminal Justice
  • A valid Code B, C1, C or EC1 driver’s licence.
  • A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Willingness to travel, including outside South Africa when required.
  • Willingness to work extended hours.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

  • Enforce the Immigration Act and related legislation.
  • Detect, investigate and arrest illegal foreigners.
  • Conduct immigration inspections with or without warrants where permitted by law.
  • Process deportations of illegal foreigners.
  • Conduct investigations into immigration-related offences.
  • Participate in anti-corruption and law enforcement investigations.
  • Prepare and present evidence in court.
  • Issue notices, fines and admission of guilt documentation.
  • Process detention warrants and extensions.
  • Monitor immigration case records.
  • Conduct interviews with suspected illegal foreigners.
  • Participate in joint law enforcement operations with security agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with permit conditions.
  • Safeguard departmental assets and resources.
  • Attend training programmes to improve law enforcement skills.
