Western TVET College is inviting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for three permanent Driver/Messenger positions at its Corporate Office, Carletonville and Randfontein campuses.

Driver/Messenger Vacancy Details

Driver/Messenger Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12/Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • A valid Code 10 driver’s licence.
  • A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • At least 1–2 years of relevant experience as a driver.
  • Excellent driving skills.
  • The ability to work independently and responsibly.
  • Willingness to work after hours and on weekends.
  • Ability to provide services across different campuses and sites.

Knowledge and Competencies

Candidates should have basic knowledge and understanding of:

  • Relevant legislation, prescripts, policies and procedures.
  • Motor vehicle maintenance procedures.
  • Trip authorisation procedures.
  • Vehicle logbook completion.
  • Recording fuel consumption.
  • Recording vehicle kilometres and services.
  • Registry and general office support procedures.
  • Messenger and document-delivery procedures.

The successful candidate should also be able to:

  • Change or repair flat tyres.
  • Keep allocated vehicles clean and in good condition.
  • Complete vehicle records accurately.
  • Handle documents and other items responsibly.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, students and other stakeholders.

Driver/Messenger Duties

The successful candidates will be responsible for driving light and medium-sized motor vehicles to transport staff and students and deliver documents, mail and other items.

Key duties include:

  • Transport passengers safely between designated locations.
  • Deliver mail, documents and other items.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on allocated vehicles.
  • Report vehicle defects promptly.
  • Complete prescribed vehicle logbooks and records.
  • Record fuel consumption and kilometres.
  • Record vehicle servicing information.
  • Obtain the required trip authorisation.
  • Provide messenger services to the relevant office.
  • Assist with registry-related duties.
  • Copy and fax documents when required.
  • Collect and deliver documentation within the department.
  • Ensure goods and documents being transported are properly handled.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of allocated vehicles.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidates will receive a salary of R201,093 per annum on Level 04, plus applicable benefits associated with the permanent PERSAL appointment.

Z83 Application Requirements

All applications must include:

  • A signed and fully completed New Z83 form.
  • A comprehensive CV.

The Z83 must be completed in full. Incomplete Z83 forms will result in disqualification.

Pre-Entry Assessments
