About the Role

As a Driver Extra Heavy, you will ensure that products are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time to customers. You will also be responsible for maintaining company vehicles, completing delivery documentation, monitoring fuel usage, and ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards.

This role is ideal for professional drivers with experience operating heavy vehicles in a distribution or logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver products from the Durban Wheat Mill to customers.
  • Ensure deliveries are completed safely and on schedule.
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of company trucks.
  • Complete daily vehicle inspections and checklists.
  • Report vehicle defects, incidents, and accidents promptly.
  • Ensure all Proof of Delivery (POD) documents are signed, stamped, and returned.
  • Monitor and manage fuel consumption according to company targets.
  • Offload flour and other products at customer sites.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including:
    • PODs
    • Fuel slips
    • Toll slips
    • Trip sheets
  • Follow all road safety regulations and company policies.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • A valid Code 14 driver’s licence.
  • A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that the PDP remains valid and is renewed annually.

Experience Required

Applicants should have:

  • 2–3 years’ experience in a similar heavy vehicle driving role.
