Purpose of the Job
The primary purpose of this position is to minimise financial risk by obtaining authorisations and re-authorisations for patient admissions through effective communication with medical schemes, healthcare providers, and other relevant stakeholders.
The role ensures that patient accounts are correctly authorised, reducing the risk of unpaid claims while maintaining compliance with Mediclinic policies and healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
As a Confirmations Clerk, your duties will include:
- Obtain authorisation and re-authorisation for patient admissions.
- Ensure patient claims are fully authorised for payment.
- Capture and maintain accurate patient and authorisation information.
- Communicate with medical aids, healthcare professionals, and internal departments.
- Identify financial risk cases and refer them for further action.
- Apply Level 2 clinical coding standards.
- Ensure compliance with confirmation procedures, contracts, and legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate records using available systems and resources.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
Experience
