About the Role
As a Cashier, you will be responsible for processing customer purchases accurately, handling different payment methods, promoting excellent customer service, and ensuring that all transactions comply with Dis-Chem’s operating procedures and security standards.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- At least 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
- Sound numerical skills
- Good command of the English language
- Basic customer service skills
- Willingness to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Provide excellent customer service at the point of sale
- Process customer purchases accurately
- Receive and process cash, card, voucher, coupon, and other approved payments
- Process loyalty cards, including those of partner programmes
- Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service standards
- Maintain professional relationships with customers
- Handle customer queries and direct complaints to management
- Keep accurate cash records and manage cash flow responsibly
- Ensure all price changes and line voids are approved
- Process authorised exchanges and returns
- Ensure all merchandise is scanned and paid for
- Secure cash according to company procedures
- Protect till access codes and passwords
- Report suspicious activities to management
- Follow all company security policies and procedures
- Support daily promotional activities and sales initiatives
