About the Admin Assistant Job

The Admin Assistant will provide essential administrative support to waste management operations at depot level. The role involves maintaining accurate records, supporting financial and operational administration, monitoring attendance and staff information, and ensuring that administrative processes comply with municipal policies and relevant legislation.

This opportunity is suitable for candidates with Grade 12, a post-Matric administration qualification and 1–2 years of administrative experience.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate applying for Admin Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Providing sustainable administrative support at depot level.
  • Supporting daily operations within the Waste Operations Division.
  • Checking timesheets and attendance registers for accuracy.
  • Assisting with identifying capital needs at the depot.
  • Supporting the preparation of operational budgets.
  • Ensuring proper administrative processes are followed.
  • Maintaining an effective archive and filing system.
  • Preparing and recording incidents and accident reports.
  • Completing and forwarding WCA forms to the relevant department.
  • Maintaining records and statistics relating to vehicle availability.
  • Recording staff information such as overtime and leave.
  • Maintaining accurate management information.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, government policies and municipal procedures.
  • Assisting with the generation and collection of receivable income.
  • Preparing payment requisitions for service providers.
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • 1-year Post-Matric Certificate in Administration or a related field.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in administration.

Candidates may be required to provide proof of the applicable NQF level for their qualifications.
