About the SAB Checker Operator Job
South African Breweries (SAB) is looking for a Checker Operator to join its Tzaneen Depot team.
The successful candidate will support warehouse operations by safely loading, unloading and stacking materials while maintaining stock accuracy, product quality, safety standards and excellent internal and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet and Forklift Management
The Checker Operator will:
- Conduct pre-trip forklift inspections at the start of each shift.
- Complete the required forklift inspection checklist.
- Ensure the forklift is operated safely and maintained in good working condition.
- Check that fuel and fluid levels meet operating requirements.
Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
The successful candidate must:
- Comply with Department of Labour stacking exemptions and site requirements.
- Maintain good warehouse housekeeping standards.
- Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Maintain effective SIO and SHO processes and ensure outstanding actions are closed.
Stock and Warehouse Management
Responsibilities include:
- Applying stock rotation and freshness principles.
- Checking packaging quality on the warehouse floor and before loading.
- Supporting effective inventory management.
- Communicating with the Inventory Manager, Controller and Supervisor.
- Accurately checking, loading and unloading vehicles.
- Using load summaries to ensure the correct quantities of full and split pallets are loaded.
- Updating shipment status and completing relevant transactions on SAP.
- Supporting Power BI KPI reporting.
- Recording returned stock accurately on a handheld device before unloading.
- Participating in shift handovers.
- Conducting accurate daily stock counts using a handheld device.
- Generating variance reports in SAP and resolving discrepancies.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A 3-year post-Matric qualification, such as a Degree or National Diploma in Logistics or a related field.
- 1–2 years’ experience in a warehouse or logistics environment will be an added advantage.
- A valid Forklift Licence will be an added advantage.
- Good understanding of warehouse operations and inventory processes.
- Ability to work under pressure and over weekends when required.

Work Environment
The role is based at the SAB Tzaneen Depot and forms part of the company’s warehouse and logistics operations. The successful candidate may be required to work shifts, weekends and under pressure depending on operational requirements.
