SANParks Seasonal General Workers 2026 – West Coast National Park

SANParks is hiring 8 Seasonal General Workers on a 3-month fixed-term contract at West Coast National Park. This opportunity is suitable for candidates with Grade 12 or NCV Level 4 and general work experience.

The positions are particularly aimed at applicants from Langebaan, Vredenburg, Hopefield, Saldanha, St. Helena Bay and Paternoster communities.

Successful candidates will report to the Section Ranger and Duty Manager. Applicants must arrange their own accommodation because official accommodation is not available in the park.

Seasonal General Workers Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric), NCV Level 4 or equivalent qualification.
  • 1–2 years of general work or related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Knowledge of First Aid.
  • Ability to work long hours while standing and working outdoors.
  • Ability to work in sun, rain and windy conditions.
  • Willingness to work weekends and public holidays.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime when required.
  • SARS Tax Reference Number.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other official language.
  • Punctual, reliable and responsible.

Advantageous

A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.

SANParks Seasonal General Workers Duties

Successful candidates will perform a range of general maintenance, cleaning, visitor-service and operational duties, including:

  • Maintain gardens, terrain and visitor facilities.
  • Clean ablution blocks, picnic sites and day-visitor areas.
  • Keep facilities clean, safe and presentable.
  • Empty bins and ensure proper waste disposal.
  • Assist with admission management at the R27 and Langebaan entrance gates.
  • Assist with event setups, guided walks, braai areas and educational activities.
  • Inspect and assist with basic maintenance of watering and sewerage systems.
  • Assist with maintaining braai sites and parking areas.
  • Assist with inventory and stock control.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries and stationery.
  • Report maintenance problems, breakages, leaks and equipment faults.
  • Assist with regular patrols and law-enforcement-related duties.
  • Follow health and safety procedures.
  • Remove refuse and clean conservation areas and picnic sites.
  • Handle cleaning equipment and other tools correctly.
  • Assist with basic traffic management and vehicle parking.
  • Provide visitors with information and assist with basic queries.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Working Conditions

This is an outdoor position requiring physical fitness and flexibility. Employees may be required to work long hours, weekends, public holidays and occasional overtime.

Candidates should be comfortable working in changing weather conditions and interacting with visitors and staff.

Salary and Benefits

The remuneration package is based on the Paterson A3 salary grade, with allowances and benefits provided according to SANParks’ Conditions of Service.

The stated annual package is:

R127,497.16 – R170,600.60 per annum
