Tiger Brands is hiring a Production Clerk for its Tinkies production operations in Germiston, Gauteng. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity for someone who can support production through accurate inventory management, data capturing, documentation, stock control and coordination.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining accurate stock levels for raw materials, packaging and finished products while supporting production and dispatch activities.

Production Clerk Responsibilities

The Production Clerk will be responsible for a range of production administration and stock-control activities.

Inventory Management

  • Check factory inventory levels.
  • Order baking ingredients and packaging materials.
  • Create and manage Oracle purchase orders.
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly stocktakes.
  • Capture daily reconciliation information.
  • Ensure the FIFO principle is followed for raw materials, packaging and finished goods.
  • Monitor stock variances and minimise write-offs and losses.
  • Maintain accurate stock records.
  • Implement initiatives to improve stock accuracy.
  • Communicate stock levels with relevant departments to prevent shortages and short-dated stock.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare production batch documentation packs.
  • Check process control records for accuracy.
  • Maintain compliance records and supporting documentation.
  • Manage loading sheets, manuals and other production documents.
  • File production records correctly to ensure traceability.
  • Prepare operational reports for the Production Manager.

Staff Supervision

  • Monitor packaging and raw material usage against factory standards.
  • Participate in TeamConnect activities.
  • Arrange training sessions where required.
  • Communicate important updates to factory-floor employees.
  • Assign responsibilities to loaders, forklift operators and packaging operators.

Production Scheduling

  • Ensure raw materials and packaging are issued according to the Bakeplan.
  • Liaise with production regarding weekly production plans.
  • Issue the required packaging and raw material stock.
  • Monitor demand and stock availability.
  • Prepare for expected peak production periods.

Inbound and Outbound Stock Control

The role also involves coordinating the movement of stock into and out of the production environment.

Outbound Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate Inter-Bakery truck loading.
  • Ensure trucks are loaded according to delivery requirements.
  • Prevent short-loading or over-loading.
  • Verify that invoices match allocated stock.
  • Ensure loading teams follow the relevant SOPs.
  • Coordinate loader and forklift responsibilities.
  • Ensure PODs are submitted daily to settlements.

Inbound Duties

  • Inspect incoming stock for visible damage, expiry dates and correct weight.
  • Count and receipt packaging and raw materials correctly.
  • Ensure receipts are processed within the required timeframe on Oracle/Zycus.
  • Accurately count Tinkies transferred from production to the warehouse.
  • Reconcile transfers with Production Supervisors and Security.
  • Complete and sign transfer documentation.
  • Allocate duties among loaders according to operational requirements.

Data Management and Production Tracking

The Production Clerk will also:

  • Track deviations from standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure completion of OEE requirements.
  • Maintain the Damages Tracker.
  • Review daily production plans.
  • Follow up on unresolved issues, orders, delays and transfers.
  • Monitor closing stock.
  • Identify high-priority and time-sensitive activities.
  • Follow up on pending decisions and outstanding tasks.
  • Coordinate with Production Supervisors regarding stock levels and demand.

Payroll, Overtime and Employee Administration

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Manage overtime and TES utilisation.
  • Assist with leave management.
  • Ensure wage input sheets are accurately completed.
  • Balance wage information against daily wage norms.
  • Process required Workday approvals.
  • Assist employees with Workday and pay-related queries.
  • Work closely with Supervisors and Administrators.
  • Ensure employees’ recorded working hours are accurate.
