About the Driver Job

The purpose of this position is to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of goods to and from customers while following all required company procedures.

The driver will operate according to designated routes and schedules, handle parcels and delivery documentation, obtain proof of delivery and report any vehicle or delivery issues to the Dispatch Supervisor.

Driver Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance

  • Inspect the vehicle before departure and after returning.
  • Complete the required vehicle inspection lists.
  • Submit inspection lists to the Dispatch Supervisor for sign-off every Monday.
  • Report any vehicle errors or defects immediately before leaving the premises.
  • Maintain and clean the vehicle regularly.
  • Report vehicle problems immediately to the Dispatch Supervisor.

Loading and Deliveries

  • Check parcels with the supervisor before loading.
  • Follow the New Dispatch Loading procedure.
  • Deliver parcels to customers according to the designated route.
  • Follow the route schedule and trip sheet.
  • Ensure all assigned deliveries are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Deliver documents and collection slips allocated to the trip sheet.
  • Obtain the required proof of delivery (POD).

Proof of Delivery and Documentation

  • Ensure customers follow the required POD procedure.
  • Adhere to the RFC procedure.
  • Sign trip sheets in with the POD Clerk.
  • Ensure all documents assigned to the driver are returned and complete.
  • Follow up on outstanding trip sheets.
  • Take responsibility for missing POD documentation and related queries.
  • Report delivery and POD problems to the Dispatch Supervisor.

Stock and Operational Procedures

  • Follow all dispatch and delivery procedures.
  • Do not transfer stock between customer shops.
  • Handle parcels and company goods responsibly.
  • Ensure all delivery documentation is correctly managed.
  • Comply with company operational and safety requirements.
