About the Dis-Chem Cleaner Position

The Dis-Chem Cleaner will help maintain a clean, hygienic and professional working environment at the company’s Head Office.

This position requires someone who is trustworthy, attentive to detail and able to follow cleaning procedures and instructions. The successful candidate must also be comfortable interacting with employees, customers and visitors while carrying out cleaning duties.

Cleaner Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the Head Office.
  • Clean communal areas on a daily basis.
  • Develop and follow cleaning routines for different areas.
  • Keep the canteen and restrooms clean and adequately stocked.
  • Remain available during operational hours to attend to cleaning requirements.
  • Check refuse before disposal to ensure that no products or valuable items are discarded.
  • Vacuum meeting and training rooms daily according to standard operating procedures.
  • Vacuum other carpeted areas weekly as required.
  • Dust desks, chairs, telephones, shelves, photocopiers and other office equipment.
  • Follow workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Store cleaning equipment safely when it is not being used.
  • Display wet-floor signs correctly when cleaning floors.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional attitude when dealing with customers and staff.
  • Assist customers with directions to the appropriate floor or person when required.
  • Communicate clearly and courteously with employees and visitors.
  • Resolve minor issues or refer them to the team leader when necessary.
  • Ensure kitchens and bathrooms have sufficient cleaning and hygiene supplies.
  • Report low or unavailable stock to the team leader.
  • Report faulty equipment and facility problems, including issues with doors, handles, locks, taps, cisterns, lights and switches.
