Cleaner Job Overview
The Gauteng Department of Health is recruiting 11 Cleaners (Level 2) for Sedibeng District Health Services.
No previous work experience is required. Applicants must be able to read and write. Sedibeng District EPWP participants and interns, including those whose EPWP contracts have ended, are eligible to apply.
The successful candidates will help maintain clean, safe and hygienic healthcare facilities while following infection control and health and safety procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be able to read and write.
- Have no previous experience requirement.
- Be willing to undergo continuous training and development.
- Comply with the Performance Management and Development System.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Cleaners will be responsible for:
- Sweeping, mopping and buffing floors using cleaning machines.
- Cleaning walls, windows, doors and window frames.
- Cleaning bathrooms, showers and lockers.
- Dusting, washing and polishing furniture.
- Cleaning corridors, offices, clinics, entrances and waiting areas.
- Cleaning public toilets, stairs, fire escapes, lifts and passages.
- Cleaning equipment and carpets.
- Removing medical and general waste.
- Cleaning waste bins and flattening cardboard boxes.
- Following healthcare waste management and infection control requirements.
- Operating heavy-duty cleaning machines.
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
- Defrosting and cleaning unit refrigerators.
- Refilling soap containers.
- Cleaning and maintaining unit kitchens.
- Monitoring kitchen and bathroom stock.
- Reporting stock requirements to the supervisor.
- Keeping cleaning trolleys clean.
- Completing daily cleaning activities on control lists.
- Following cleaning service policies and procedures.
- Complying with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Attending approved meetings and training.
- Meeting required work timelines and performance standards.
