Security Guard Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 9 qualification.
- Security Guard Qualification/Certificate (Grade D) recognized by the Security Industry Authority.
- Valid PSIRA certificate.
- Police Clearance Certificate.
- Proof of medical fitness from a registered medical practitioner.
- Proof of residence from a Ward Councillor.
- At least 12–18 months of relevant security, police or military experience.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Safeguarding municipal buildings, water service sites, pump stations, reservoirs, sewerage pumps, dams and revenue collection centres.
- Recording incoming and outgoing equipment and assets in the inventory control book.
- Updating occurrence registers with routine activities and incidents.
- Controlling the entry and exit of employees and visitors.
- Searching vehicles upon arrival and departure.
- Directing members of the public to relevant offices and queues.
- Monitoring potential risks and threats against employees, Councillors, delegations and municipal property.
- Securing the movement of people entering and leaving municipal premises.
- Applying municipal security protocols and controlling access by employees, Councillors and important delegations.
