SPAR KZN is inviting applications for an Extra Heavy Duty Driver position. This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced truck driver with the required heavy vehicle licence and professional driving credentials.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, accurate and timely delivery of goods to SPAR stores across KwaZulu-Natal.

Extra Heavy Duty Driver Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Valid Code 14 Driver’s Licence.
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • 3–5 years of truck driving experience.
  • Experience in FMCG distribution.
  • Experience driving Superlink and Interlink combinations.
  • Intermediate English communication skills.
  • Customer service training or experience will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

The successful driver will be responsible for:

  • Operating company vehicles and assets safely during deliveries.
  • Delivering goods to SPAR stores accurately and on time.
  • Checking delivery documentation before, during and after deliveries.
  • Checking goods with receiving staff.
  • Assisting with offloading when required.
  • Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Reporting vehicle defects to management.
  • Operating tail lifts, refrigerated units, tautliner curtains and shoring bars.
  • Performing safe trailer coupling and uncoupling.
  • Monitoring loading and offloading activities.
  • Ensuring stock is properly secured during transportation.
  • Inspecting store claims, returns, assets and recycling collected from stores.
  • Completing, signing and stamping all required documentation.
  • Returning toll cards and refuelling the truck after deliveries.
  • Meeting driver performance and housekeeping targets.
  • Following all company health and safety policies and procedures.
