Job Purpose (Curro Maintenance Assistant)

The Maintenance Assistant will support the school’s daily operations by maintaining buildings, sports facilities, and school grounds while assisting with transport duties and ensuring that the campus remains safe, functional, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist with the preparation and marking of sports fields.
  • Maintain school grounds and outdoor facilities.
  • Perform routine building maintenance and repairs.
  • Carry out basic plumbing, painting, and general repair work.
  • Transport materials, equipment, and occasionally staff or learners when required.
  • Assist with coaching and supervising sports practices and activities.
  • Support school events and operational activities.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by school management.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in general maintenance, including:
    • Basic plumbing.
    • Painting.
    • General building repairs.
    • Grounds maintenance.
  • A valid South African driver’s licence.
  • A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) or willingness to obtain one after appointment.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
