Job Purpose (General Worker)

The main purpose of this role is to support production activities by safely handling raw materials and finished goods, assisting machine operators, maintaining housekeeping standards, and complying with all Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Assisting machine operators with loading materials into production machinery.
  • Wrapping, stacking, packing, and strapping raw materials and finished products.
  • Labelling finished products before dispatch.
  • Monitoring product quality and reporting defects.
  • Loading, unloading, sorting, and transporting materials safely.
  • Participating in stock counts and production training.
  • Keeping workstations clean and organised.
  • Operating forklifts or other material-handling equipment where authorised.
  • Following all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) procedures.
  • Wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Supporting productivity, quality, and customer service goals.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Mathematics and Physical Sciences as subjects.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions.
  • Good numerical and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Physical fitness for manual work.
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.

Experience

The following will be advantageous:

  • 0–2 years’ experience in manufacturing, production, warehouse, or industrial environments.
  • Experience in steel manufacturing or engineering.
  • Exposure to production machinery.
  • Forklift licence.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes.
