Purpose of the Role (Regional Physical Security)
The Officer: Regional Physical Security will coordinate and supervise the protection of SARS employees, visitors, assets, and facilities. The successful candidate will monitor security operations, conduct risk assessments, oversee outsourced security service providers, ensure compliance with security policies, and respond to security incidents.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Security Operations
- Coordinate the protection of people, assets, and facilities.
- Supervise deployed security personnel.
- Monitor compliance with Security Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Resolve security-related issues at allocated sites.
- Escalate unresolved security matters to management.
- Monitor daily security activities and respond appropriately.
Risk Management
- Conduct operational security risk assessments.
- Implement security risk mitigation measures.
- Identify and address security vulnerabilities.
- Ensure physical security systems remain fully operational.
- Report faults and monitor corrective actions.
Compliance and Governance
- Conduct compliance inspections and security audits.
- Ensure adherence to SARS security policies and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate outsourced security providers in line with PFMA requirements.
- Monitor searches conducted according to legislation and company procedures.
- Compile reports on security incidents and interventions.
- Contribute to improving security procedures and operational standards.
Administration and Reporting
- Prepare reports for management.
- Record security interventions and incidents.
- Monitor service quality and operational performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Client and Stakeholder Relations
- Promote a culture of excellent customer service.
- Build positive relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Deliver professional, timely, and efficient security services.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Option 1
- Higher Certificate in Security Management or Security Risk Management (NQF Level 5)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in security or security risk management
- Valid driver’s licence
OR
Option 2
- Grade 12 (Senior Certificate / NQF Level 4)
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in security or security risk management
- Valid driver’s licence
