Job Purpose (Artisan)
The successful candidate will supervise and organise an operational team responsible for road construction, road maintenance, storm water infrastructure maintenance, and related municipal operations. The role ensures that daily operational activities are completed safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- An appropriate Trade Certificate (Red Seal) as a Bricklayer/Mason or be a trained Construction Road Maker
- At least two years’ relevant experience in road and storm water maintenance
- A valid Code C1 driver’s licence with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
- Good physical fitness and health
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods
- Willingness to work shifts, standby duties, and overtime when required
- Willingness to undergo a criminal record check and fingerprint verification by the Tshwane Metro Police Department
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Repair, rebuild, and maintain storm water structures
- Construct and repair pavements and drainage channels
- Maintain storm water pipe systems
- Prepare and cast concrete according to technical drawings
- Lay pipes according to approved specifications
- Inspect contractors working on municipal projects
- Supervise operational teams and allocate daily tasks
- Organise equipment, materials, and resources for maintenance work
- Operate municipal vehicles and construction equipment
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards
