Job Purpose

The successful candidate will assist artisans and technical personnel while performing general maintenance and support duties at the weather office and remote observation sites. The role contributes to ensuring that weather monitoring infrastructure remains operational and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance and Technical Support

  • Assist with the installation and inspection of remote observation sites
  • Repair structures that house meteorological equipment
  • Assist with maintenance of masts, stands, and supporting structures
  • Perform basic building maintenance tasks
  • Support artisans during maintenance activities

Grounds and Facility Maintenance

  • Mow grass and maintain observation site terrain
  • Remove litter and general waste
  • Ensure outdoor areas remain clean and safe
  • Clean office facilities and restrooms when required

Asset and Fleet Management

  • Monitor and report on assets and infrastructure
  • Participate in asset verification activities
  • Assist with fleet management functions
  • Maintain adequate stock levels for maintenance operations

Health and Safety

  • Comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements
  • Participate in workplace safety initiatives
  • Follow company procedures and quality management processes

Learning and Development

  • Attend training programmes as instructed
  • Participate in mentoring initiatives
  • Share knowledge and skills with colleagues
  • Seek opportunities to develop additional workplace skills

Community and Public Engagement

  • Support exhibitions, workshops, expos, and corporate events
  • Assist staff during public awareness campaigns

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Matric / Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification
  • Valid South African driver’s licence

Added Advantage
