Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • At least 6 months’ cashier or till-operation experience
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office
  • Good numerical skills

An additional third language will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

As a Casual Cashier, you will:

  • Process customer purchases and payments accurately.
  • Operate the cash register and maintain the cash drawer.

  • Process refunds and exchanges when authorised.
  • Assist customers professionally and address merchandise queries.

  • Follow procedures for price changes and line voids.
  • Scan and process outgoing stock and items.
  • Keep customer and transaction information confidential.
  • Monitor and report suspicious behaviour to management.
  • Report customer complaints and compliments to the relevant supervisor.
  • Stay informed about current sales and promotions.
  • Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service, security and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with customers and colleagues.
