Job Purpose (Cashier Vacancy)

The Cashier is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while accurately processing sales transactions, handling payments securely, and ensuring compliance with Dis-Chem’s operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver excellent customer service at the point of sale.
  • Process customer purchases accurately using the Dis-Chem operating system.
  • Receive and process payments, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and coupons.
  • Handle loyalty card transactions for approved rewards programmes.
  • Maintain accurate cash handling procedures and cash drawer balances.
  • Ensure all stock and prescriptions are scanned and paid for before leaving the store.
  • Process authorised refunds and merchandise exchanges.
  • Report customer complaints and compliments to management.
  • Stay informed about current promotions and product information.
  • Identify and report suspicious activities.
  • Follow all company security and fraud prevention procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding daily cash takings.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants applying for Cashier Vacancy must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • At least 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Good numerical skills.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Basic customer service skills.
  • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
