Handyman Vacancy Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to perform quality maintenance and repair work on building infrastructure and equipment. The successful candidate will ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and well maintained while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing maintenance tasks according to work orders and job cards.
  • Investigating equipment faults and carrying out repairs.
  • Performing minor electrical repairs and servicing.
  • Completing minor plumbing maintenance and repairs.
  • Installing and relocating office furniture.
  • Carrying out shopfitting and general building maintenance.
  • Repairing doors, locks, windows, and handles.
  • Replacing ceiling tiles and carpet tiles.
  • Performing general painting and touch-up work.
  • Conducting Tier 1 inspections and basic repairs on air-conditioning equipment.
  • Inspecting fire safety equipment, including:
    • Fire extinguishers
    • Hose reels
    • Fire hydrants
    • Fire detectors
    • Access control systems
  • Assisting qualified artisans with major repairs.
  • Providing regular maintenance updates to the Facilities Manager, Service Manager, Building Manager, or Resource Coordinator.
  • Ensuring all work complies with company policies and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants applying for Handyman Vacancy must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
  • N3 Technical qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Valid South African driver’s licence.
  • At least 3 years’ experience performing handyman or building maintenance duties.
  • Basic training in the use of hand tools.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
