Central Johannesburg TVET College is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for 6 Cleaner positions at the Central Office. This opportunity offers stable public sector employment with government benefits.

Minimum Requirements

  • ABET / Standard 8 / Grade 10
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Experience in a cleaning environment (advantageous)

Inherent Job Requirements

  • Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects
  • Willing to rotate across departments and sites as required
  • Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks

Knowledge & Competencies

Applicants should demonstrate knowledge of:

  • Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Cleaning equipment and materials
  • Hygiene and infection control standards
  • Waste management procedures
  • Storage requirements for cleaning materials
  • Relevant legislation, prescripts, policies and procedures
  • Facility policies and service ethics

Skills Required

  • Good communication skills (read, speak and write)
  • Ability to operate cleaning machinery and equipment
  • Responsible use of cleaning consumables
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The appointed Cleaners will:

Maintain Facility Cleanliness

  • Clean offices, corridors, elevators and boardrooms
  • Dust and polish office furniture
  • Sweep, scrub and wax floors
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets
  • Clean walls, windows and surfaces
  • Empty and clean bins

Kitchen & Restroom Maintenance

  • Clean kitchen basins and utensils
  • Maintain stock of kitchen utensils
  • Refill hand wash liquid soap
  • Replace toilet paper and hand towels
  • Empty and wash waste bins

Equipment & Waste Management

  • Implement infection control measures
  • Ensure effective waste management
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and materials
  • Report broken machines
  • Clean equipment after use (microwaves, vacuum cleaners, etc.)
  • Request cleaning supplies when needed

Cleaners are expected to uphold high standards of hygiene, professionalism and loyal service ethics.
