Assistant Training Officer – Learners: Job Overview

Glencore Coal South Africa is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Training Officer – Learners, based in Emalahleni (Witbank), Mpumalanga. This role is responsible for the coordination and administration of Engineering Learnership Programmes (Section 18.1 and 18.2) and for supporting the HR department with the recruitment, onboarding, and development of engineering learners.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced artisan with strong training, compliance, and coordination skills within a mining or heavy industry environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful Assistant Training Officer – Learners will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the compilation of SLP targets for engineering learners
  • Supporting learner planning with consideration for employment equity and turnover
  • Coordinating recruitment, onboarding, and induction of engineering learners and trainees
  • Scheduling learner placement and training at CTC and operational sites
  • Maintaining learner records in line with MQA, QCTO, ISO, and Learning & Development policies
  • Preparing accurate weekly and monthly learner progress reports
  • Reviewing learner feedback and identifying areas for programme improvement
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the learnership programme and recommending enhancements

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate
  • Engineering Trade Certificate
  • Assessor Certificate
  • ETDP (Education, Training & Development Practices) Certificate

Minimum Experience Requirements

To qualify for the Assistant Training Officer – Learners role, candidates must have:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Artisan
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (Code EB/08)

Advantageous Experience

  • Experience within the mining industry
