About the Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic
We are seeking motivated, hardworking individuals to join our team as Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic Apprentices. This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience and structured training in a professional environment, preparing you for a career in heavy equipment maintenance, repair, and diagnostics.
This apprenticeship aligns with the 97582 Occupational Certificate: Heavy Equipment Mechanic, preparing learners to operate as fully qualified Heavy Equipment Mechanics capable of working on earthmoving and mining equipment.
Key Responsibilities
As an Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic Apprentice, you will:
- Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on heavy machinery.
- Dismantle, assess, repair, and reassemble engines and powertrain systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults in diesel engines, hydraulics, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Adhere to MERSETA and organizational apprenticeship requirements.
- Maintain discipline, safety, and quality standards throughout the training program.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 with passes in English, Mathematics, and Science.
- Technical Knowledge: N4 Mathematics, Engineering Drawing/Industrial Electronics, Engineering Science, and Motor/Diesel Trade Theory.
- Certifications: N4 NCV Certificate in Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Prior artisan aid experience (4+ years) advantageous for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
- Additional: Ability to adhere to apprenticeship agreements, bursary conditions, and organizational policies.
