The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) invites unemployed South African citizens to apply for 10 General Worker posts within the Northern Operations – Groblersdal Area Office.

These roles involve performing general maintenance, gardening, and upkeep of government water infrastructure and associated facilities, contributing to the safe and efficient management of water resources.

Minimum Requirements

  • ABET Certificate (higher qualification advantageous)
  • Preference for candidates with relevant work experience in similar environments
  • Knowledge of gardening equipment and appliances
  • Basic understanding of lawn care, infrastructure maintenance, and safety procedures

Duties & Responsibilities

General Workers will be responsible for:

  • General maintenance activities, including gardening, painting, and weed control
  • Maintenance of fire breaks and herbicide application
  • Conducting routine inspections on DWS infrastructure
  • Performing maintenance on canals, pipelines, dams, servitudes, terrain, and buildings
  • Reporting faults, defects, and safety hazards promptly
  • Loading and off-loading equipment
  • Adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related safety regulations
  • Assisting with other general duties as required
