Purpose of the PPT/LLOP Driver Job

The purpose of the DHL PPT/LLOP Driver position is to safely pick stock from pick-face locations and move it to outbound cages or other designated locations.

The driver will operate material handling equipment (MHE) while following company safety procedures, standard operating procedures and work instructions.

DHL Driver Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

Stock Picking and Movement

  • Pick stock from pick-face locations to outbound cages.
  • Lift and move stock from pick-face locations to pallets.
  • Transport stock safely between designated locations.
  • Ensure accuracy when picking customer shipments.
  • Handle merchandise carefully to minimise damage.
  • Ensure pallets are stacked according to required standards.
  • Check that pallets are not damaged.
  • Participate in stock counts.
  • Ensure product safety, quality and integrity are maintained.

PPT/LLOP Equipment Operation

  • Operate PPT/LLOP and other company equipment safely.
  • Conduct daily or pre-shift MHE inspections.
  • Report equipment defects and faults immediately.
  • Use material handling equipment correctly.
  • Maintain appropriate hand, eye and foot coordination when operating MHE.
  • Follow all operational safety and health requirements.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow DHL’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).
  • Comply with Health and Safety standards.
  • Follow site SHE rules and best practices.
  • Report unsafe acts and non-conformities.
  • Report behaviour that could affect product safety, quality or integrity.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and hygiene standards.
  • Operate with honesty, integrity and ethical values.

Administration and Teamwork

  • Complete administrative tasks according to established procedures.
  • Complete assigned tasks within required deadlines.
  • Meet daily key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Contribute to a productive working environment.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Support workplace change initiatives.
  • Participate in skills development activities.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by management.
  • Be flexible and work overtime when operational requirements demand it.

Requirements for DHL Driver Jobs

Applicants must have:

  • Matric / Grade 12.
  • A valid LLOP or PPT licence/certificate.
  • Previous LLOP/PPT operating experience.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work targets.
  • Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities.
