Key Learning Outcomes

Participants in the Sales and Marketing Learnership will gain practical experience in:

  • Sales execution and customer development
  • Merchandising, promotions, pricing, and space management
  • Building and sustaining customer relationships
  • Market intelligence and competitor analysis
  • Understanding profitability, product mix, and pricing strategies
  • Planning, organising, and executing sales activities
  • Delivering AMPPS standards (Availability, Merchandising, Price, Promotions, Space)

Key Responsibilities

The successful learner will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Customer Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with tavern owners and customers
  • Conduct weekly customer visits per outlet
  • Resolve customer issues and drive customer satisfaction
  • Ensure customer master data is accurate, current, and maintained
  • Achieve customer sales volume and distribution targets
  • Ensure outlets purchase directly from SAB on a consistent weekly basis

Sales Execution & Merchandising

  • Monitor outlet volumes to ensure 100% availability of key brands and packs
  • Manage stock rotation to prevent stock-outs and ensure product quality
  • Execute merchandising in line with In-Trade Execution Guidelines (ITEG)
  • Negotiate and implement interior and exterior price communication
  • Drive effective execution of price and promotion campaigns
  • Track competitive shelf space and manage outlet retention

AMPPS Delivery

  • Deliver on all AMPPS requirements: Availability, Merchandising, Price, Promotions, and Space
  • Complete and influence AMPPS surveys through effective execution of targeted plans

Asset Management

  • Manage SAB refrigeration and merchandising assets in line with governance and audit requirements
  • Ensure SAB products are stocked correctly in fridges as per ITEG
  • Conduct asset verification surveys (e.g. fridges and signage)
  • Assist customers with stock management systems to minimise stock-outs

Skills and Competencies

  • Awareness of profitability drivers including pricing and product mix

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Sales and Marketing Learnership, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree (any relevant field)
  • Valid, unendorsed Code 8 driver’s licence
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Good local area knowledge
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends
  • Successful completion of a driver’s assessment prior to appointment
