Transnet Freight Rail is recruiting Trainee Yard Officials to undergo structured training in railway yard operations, shunting procedures, and operational safety compliance within the freight rail environment.
Position Purpose (Trainee Yard)
The Trainee Yard Official will participate in modular training programmes and successfully complete both theoretical and practical assessments to qualify as a certified Yard Official.
Successful candidates will be required to develop operational competency while supporting safe and efficient railway yard operations.
Training & Job Outputs
Candidates will be required to:
- Attend and complete theoretical training programmes within set timelines
- Complete practical operational training modules
- Develop competency in railway yard operational procedures
- Safely perform assigned operational duties during training
- Maintain a portfolio of evidence documenting training progress
- Support company strategic safety and operational goals
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
Medical & Physical Requirements
- Must pass psychological screening assessments
- Must pass medical fitness tests (including eyesight and hearing tests)
- Must be physically fit for operational duties
