Key Responsibilities
Access Control & Security Monitoring
- Control access to buildings and premises
- Verify visitor appointments and issue access permits
- Escort visitors when required
- Operate X-ray machines where applicable
- Prevent unauthorised access and detect suspicious behaviour
Safety & Patrol Duties
- Conduct routine building and premises patrols
- Identify fire hazards, leaks, and safety risks
- Ensure doors are locked/unlocked as required
- Respond to alarms (fire, panic, burglar)
- Apply emergency evacuation procedures
Asset Protection
- Monitor movement of equipment and assets
- Inspect vehicles entering and leaving premises
- Prevent unauthorised removal of company property
- Record incidents and report stolen or missing items
Reporting & Compliance
- Maintain occurrence books and registers
- Ensure compliance with National Key Point (Critical Infrastructure) requirements
- Provide security support during special events
Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- PSIRA Grade C Certificate
- Valid firearm competency certificate
Experience & Knowledge
- 2–3 years’ experience as a Security Officer
- Knowledge of access control procedures
- Understanding of security legislation and regulations
- Familiarity with National Key Point / Critical Infrastructure requirements
- Knowledge of emergency procedures
Key Skills and Attributes
- Ability to work in a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Willingness to work shifts
- Security inspection and patrolling skills
- Ability to handle a firearm responsibly
