About the NBI Youth Employment Service Programme
NBI is a leading African manufacturer of plasma-derived medicines. The YES Programme provides practical experience for unemployed youth, working alongside:
- Process Technicians
- Fractionators
- Pooling Technicians
You will gain exposure to mission-critical manufacturing processes in sterile and controlled environments.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the NBI Youth Employment Service, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen aged 18–34
- Be unemployed and not studying full-time
- Hold a Grade 12 certificate with at least a D in:
- English
- Maths
- Science
- Biology
- Have 0–2 years’ work experience
- Not have participated in a YES Programme before
- Commit to the full 12-month programme
Advantages:
- Pharmacist Assistant (PAT) Basic or Post Basic
- Qualifications in Life Sciences or Engineering
Duties & Responsibilities
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
- Mandatory medicals: pre-employment, routine, and exit
- Attendance at all required SHE training
- Compliance with SHE rules and site safety protocols
- Proper use of PPE when handling hazardous or biologically active materials
Operational Requirements
NBI operates 24/7, and interns must be prepared for:
- 12-hour shifts (06:00–18:00 or 18:00–06:00) OR
- 8-hour shifts between 06:00 and 18:00
- Weekend, public holiday, evening, and shift work
- Working overtime as required
Production Support Duties
You will support unit operations in manufacturing plasma-derived medicinal products, including:
- Equipment preparation and basic maintenance
- Sampling and quality checks
- Completing documentation and following SOPs
- Cleanroom hygiene practices
- Adhering to safety and compliance standards
