Job Overview (Housekeeper)

The National Research Foundation (NRF) is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to join its South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO) division in Rosebank. This role ensures a clean, safe, and professional environment for staff and visitors while supporting catering and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain offices, kitchens, and ablution facilities.
  • Provide tea and coffee to staff as required.
  • Assist caterers during internal and official functions.
  • Prepare and set up venues for meetings, training, and events.
  • Empty bins daily and ensure waste is taken to the designated area.
  • Replenish and purchase cleaning materials and consumables.
  • Assist with stocktaking of cleaning supplies and consumables.
  • Maintain health and safety standards in all cleaning tasks.

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualification: Grade 10 / NQF 2 (Grade 12 advantageous).
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in housekeeping and catering support.
  • License: Valid Code B driver’s license (advantageous).

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of cleaning products, methods, and equipment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive materials and cleaning chemicals safely.
  • Familiarity with health and safety procedures.
  • Time management and attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexible to support catering staff when required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
