Responsibilities for General Assistant

Customer Service

  • Assist and advise customers on product selection
  • Resolve customer queries and complaints professionally

Merchandising & Stock Management

  • Ensure bulk stock is safely merchandised according to store layout
  • Keep shelves fully stocked and labeled correctly
  • Report damaged stock to the Store Manager

Housekeeping & Safety Compliance

  • Maintain a clean and safe store environment
  • Ensure aisles are free of obstacles for customer safety
  • Follow OHSA safety regulations, including using protective gear
  • Complete housekeeping checklists, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules

Operational Responsibilities

  • Meet daily targets while maintaining high service standards
  • Identify and resolve operational issues efficiently
  • Make decisions based on company policies and escalate concerns when needed
  • Work well under pressure while maintaining quality service
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers

Requirements for General Assistant

  • Minimum Qualification:
    • Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with 1 year of relevant work experience OR
    • Grade 12 (Matric) without prior work experience
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong communication skills in English and the local language
    • Basic math and calculation skills
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet targets
    • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Other Requirements:
