About the Shop Assistant Opportunity
Clicks Group is recruiting four (4) Shop Assistant / Cashier positions for its Lyttleton store in Pretoria. If you enjoy helping customers feel good, have strong communication skills, and want to start your career in retail, this opportunity is perfect for you. You will report directly to the Store Manager and play a key role in delivering exceptional in-store experiences.
Job Purpose (Shop Assistant)
To provide excellent customer service through efficient point-of-sale operations, accurate merchandising, and maintaining store standards that create a positive and enjoyable shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Point-of-Sale (POS) Operations
- Process customer transactions accurately and on time
- Scan merchandise with high accuracy
- Handle payments safely and securely
- Action Clicks ClubCard rewards
2. Customer Service Excellence
- Promote the Clicks ClubCard and enroll new members
- Inform customers about promotions and savings
- Act as a brand ambassador by offering friendly, professional service
- Ensure customers “feel good and pay less”
3. Merchandising & Housekeeping
- Execute merchandising according to store and visual standards
- Maintain general housekeeping to ensure a clean shopping environment
- Keep product knowledge updated to assist customers effectively
- Share product updates with relief staff to maintain service standards
4. Store Support & Development
- Support the store’s vision to be the leading health and beauty retailer
- Demonstrate company values in daily interactions
- Focus on personal development and continuous learning
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Essential: Grade 12 (Matric)
Skills & Knowledge
- Basic maths calculations
- Retail or FMCG experience (advantage)
- Understanding of merchandising and promotion principles
- Knowledge of stock management procedures
- Strong customer service orientation
- Good communication skills
- Problem-solving ability
- Planning and organising skills
- Computer literacy
- Numeracy skills
