This 6-month fixed-term programme is ideal for students who require P1 & P2 practical work experience to complete their qualification in the pulp and paper or chemical engineering field.

Work Integrated Learning Programme Overview

  • Purpose: Develop entry-level operators for the pulp and paper industry

Upon successful completion, participants will be deemed competent as entry-level operators within the organisation.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Diploma in Chemical Engineering and/or Pulp & Paper Technology
  • Minimum 60% average pass rate
  • Requirement for P1 & P2 practical experience to complete qualification
  • Valid South African driver’s license

Advantageous

  • Completed P1 & P2 practical experience in a heavy industry environment

Key Deliverables

During the programme, learners will:

  • Develop basic SAP and Microsoft system skills
  • Apply chemical safety knowledge
  • Perform entry-level production tasks (housekeeping, pre-start checks, plant start-ups and shutdowns)
  • Conduct routine checks to minimize equipment failures
