Rand Water supplies potable water to over 12 million people in South Africa and is committed to developing scarce and critical skills in line with the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS III).

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be unemployed
  • Not be enrolled in any qualification or learnership programme
  • Not hold any completed post-matric qualification
  • Have Matric (Grade 12) with:
    • Mathematics (minimum Level 3)
    • Physical Science (minimum Level 3)
  • Be a South African citizen with a valid SA ID
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old

Applicants with post-matric qualifications will be disqualified.

Primary Duties

  • Assist in operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment plants
  • Monitor water quality parameters
  • Conduct basic laboratory tests
  • Support maintenance of equipment and instruments
  • Participate in sampling and analysis processes
  • Attend classes and complete assignments/projects
  • Write assessments and maintain a practical logbook

Key Competencies

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of Rand Water’s mandate and role in the water sector

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Attitude:

  • Self-motivated and results-driven
